Founded in April 2002, Apangea Inc. is built on the idea that every child deserves an affordable, high quality education. As the landscape of education in the U.S. has changed to create a system of accountability, it has become increasingly clear which children need the most assistance. We believe that every one of these children deserves a personal tutor. However, that is not possible due to cost of tutoring and supply of top quality tutors. Our mission is to combine our Intelligent Tutoring technology with human tutors to effectively assist far more students for less cost than has ever been possible.
Our research-based technology comes from a 13 year project sponsored by the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory. That research has created the first line of Intelligent Tutoring products that truly emulates the best practices of tutors. These products differ from traditional educational products by focusing student activities on the process of solving problems. By actively offering individualized feedback to each student, our Intelligent Tutorials deliver a powerful educational experience. Additionally, our products constantly monitor the progress of students to deliver a sequence of problems and review lessons matching each student’s needs.
